How to calculate lease mileage

A simple method for understanding your current mileage and forecasting the end of your lease.

The basic calculation

Subtract the mileage at the beginning of the lease from the current odometer reading. Compare the result with the share of the contract term that has already passed.

Example

If half of the lease term has passed, roughly half of the total mileage allowance should have been used. Planned long trips and seasonal differences still need to be considered.

Common mistakes

Looking only at the current difference ignores time. Forgetting planned trips or included tolerance can also distort the result.

Why a forecast matters more

A forecast connects the current trend with the remaining months and gives you time to react.

Use LeasingTracker

LeasingTracker keeps the calculation, forecast and buffer available without rebuilding a spreadsheet each time.
